Reviews on the song “Time” track 6.
From " ROCK IN THE UNIVERSE"
YES!
That guitar riffage is what I've been looking for all night! SWEET!!!
The vocals seem a little too high in the mix but this song is pretty kick ass.

Good Guitar riffs throughout
You've got a well set up band, and that is for sure. I'm not big on your style of vocals, but technically you vocals are perfect, and All I can say is that it isn't my style. I really like guitar riffs in intro especially, and the solo is really impressive, One thing I might take out is the one note solo thing that starts at 16 sec. because it's obvious that you can play some kind of awesome solo there. Overall your sound is very polished over, and I can tell that you had to of put quite a bit of money into it. the melody is catching, and I like the screaming vocals later in the song. It's obvious that your instrumentals are amazing.

Classic Rock!
Good stuff right here! Immediately when the singer starts up, I couldn't help it, I was jamming out to this. I'm usually not one for these types of vocals, but this is delicious. The drums are played well and fit awesome with the guitar, and when the solo comes in the guitarist really shows his stuff. Nice and catchy and then time stops for this credible performance. Great song.

sounds good
This is a pretty cool song. It's almost like Guns N Roses, but with a modern bite. The guitar solos are awesome. It's a really great rock song, nice job.

Rock on
The driving guitar intro is a staple classic for this genre. The song is well performed with each instrument blending well together, solid bass lines, tight drumming and the screaming guitar solo. The lyrics didnt really do alot for me to be honest but are well sung with some of the accenting reminding me of bruce dickenson at times, although i would cut the falsetto screaming at the end. The overall melody and feel of the song is good if a little dated.

Pretty awesome vox
This singer is where its at for sure. Seems like he is vocally trained, knows what he is doing, and has some pretty cool melody patterns. Not particularly my style but would listen for the over talent of the band. Guitar solo is pretty cool, not necessarily anything special but certainly serves its purpose. Rock on man!

Review:
Canada's Uncle Sid really is a mixed bag. Throughout Rock In The Universe the band flirts with traditional/melodic metal, hard rock and 70s rock. In fact at various times you can hear elements of bands ranging from Iron Maiden, Ted Nugent, Wolfsbane and Hericane Alice. While the entire band plays great, it is the guitar leads of Henry Seto that really make you sit up and take notice. The intros to "Break'n Free" and "I'm The One" are worth the price of admission alone, taking the listener back to Terrible Ted's heyday. "Break'n Free" kicks off the disc on the right note with aggressive Blaze Bayley type vocals over a hard driving beat. "Dance For Me" comes across as a heavier version of the Queen City Kids' "Dance", especially with the vocal delivery during the chorus. "Dream Machine" is another top-notch tune with a distorted 70's vibe while "Time" erupts into a convincing scream-fest. But my favorite track is the melodic, at times mellow, "The Story", which reminds me of Hericane Alice. I can't say that Rock In The Universe is original, because it isn't - and at times Wolf's vocals just don't seem to fit. But when they do, coupled with the excellent guitar leads, Uncle Sid becomes a new band worth checking out. Lots of potential here, they just haven't harnessed it all yet. UNCLE SID 'ROCK IN THE UNIVERSE' (INDEPENDENT)'Rock in the universe' is the new CD of the Canadian Hardrockband UNCLE SID,
a band that really has that typical 70s North American Classic
Hardrocksound. I hear comparisons to MOXY, TEAZE, KILLER DWARFS, SANTERS,
VAN HALEN, TALAS and HEAD EAST all the time while listening to UNCLE SID.
Without a doubt, they are a quality band and their new independent CD is a
recommended piece to fans of mentioned bands. The band has a strong lead
singer (Wolf) and especially the songs "Dream machine", "The story" (VAN
HALEN riff), "Time" and "Rock'n roll" (classy 80s melodic rocker) are strong
classic hardrocksongs. Check out this band for yourself at:

UNCLE SID ‘Rock In The Universe' Indie (2004)
This Canadian band's debut EP I reviewed back at the start of the
Classic Rock Newswire back in 2002. Since then Uncle Sid have
changed vocalists and Wolf is the new man behind the mic stand. Boy
has he changed the band's sound! Nearest comparison would be maybe
Love Hate's Jizzy Pearl – a big, powerful gritty sound. Opener
‘Break'n Free' could be Foghat on speed! Uncle Sid do tip a big nod
to the classic 70's rock, just listen to ‘Phoenix Rising' which
could easily be fellow Canadians Triumph in their 70's/early 80's
era. Check out the guitar solos as well – never OTT but stand out
nonetheless. Although ‘Let Me Go' slows the tempo down it is for me
the weakest track on here. With a voice as big as Wolf's you need
big tunes to match it. Uncle Sid even try their hand at melodic rock
with ‘Believe It!' and it sounds good. How this band remains unsigned is a mystery and a disgrace. With airplay Uncle Sid could do very well with the current love of all things classic rock. Go pay them a visit today…

Uncle Sid – ROCK IN THE UNIVERSE
"Ah... here we go; Hard Rock from the great white north! But not quite,
theres a little more to Uncle Sid than meets the eye (or ear, for that
matter). The first gig they ever played was as the support act to Uriah
Heep back in 1994. Since, they have played with such rock luminaries as
Nazareth , Blue Oyster Cult, and now naturally, countrymen, April Wine.
With one other release behind them, an ep entitled "Up And Atom" from
94, these guys blast out 11 tracks of full on melodic hard rock, with a
modicum of Psyche, and enough ampage to compete with some of the before
mentioned bands... and then some. The tunes are tight and well written
with Setos' fret work a real revelation as it shreds the eardrums into
submission, and Wolfs' dirty vocal style adding salt to the now raw and
weeping wounds. Its a blissfull pain. If you are fans of those band I've
mentioned before and the 70's Hard Rock scene in general, particullarly
some of the private bands such as Skywalker, Survivor (not the Aor
heroes) and Moonstone, you wil absolutely love this fire cracker of an
album. In a word; Awesome!"
As you can tell... I liked it, and will be broadcasting a couple of
tunes... the 1st two off your album, starting this Sunday.
Anything else I can do to help feel free to ask.

Uncle Sid-"Rock In The Universe"-2004
Ass kickin` Hard Rock from The great White North! Canada´s Uncle Sid have been plying their trade for over 10 years, that being traditional late `70s`/early `80s` inflected Hard Rock; HARDLY the mainstream`s Flavor Of The Month during those years. But such dogged determination in the face of desperate odds is what this kind of music was founded on! In better musical times, "Rock In The Universe" would have soared up the charts. Unfortunately, traits like melody, harmony, songwriting and feel are of no interest to today`s kOrN-fed kiddies. Damn shame, `cause Uncle Sid has a lot to offer! Sure, there ain`t much in the way of groundbreaking material to be found, but these guys play it with such panache, you can forgive `em! The band is Wolf on vocals, Henry Seto on guitar and bass and Dale Salive, drums. [Keyboards were supplied by Craig Zurba] The album is a raw, straight up, no frills production; no fancy-schmancy hi tech afffair, just a bunch of guys turnin` up and Rockin` out. From the opener "Break´n Free" to the balls-out "Dance For Me", as well as the seventies-style Metal of "Dream Machine", it`s quite obvious that Uncle Sid means business! To be honest, the less-than-original approach to the tunes is rather refreshing in light of all the phoney, down-tuned, dorm-room superstars currently peddling their poison wares to the masses! The winner for me is "The Story", a classy, almost UFO-like track that displays all the great qualities of this band. A future classic, to be sure. Listening to this album has given me new hope for the North American Hard Rock scene; maybe soon we`ll be spared having to hear the words "Canadian Rocker" and "Avirl Levinge" in the same sentence! Thumbs up!! [Many, many thanks to Wolf for sending me the disc!]
